The Series

Meet the Series

Black History Heroes was created by educators and parents who believe every child deserves to see themselves in history.

Each volume features 20 carefully researched heroes — scientists, athletes, artists, civil rights leaders, and trailblazers — with clean coloring outlines designed for little hands, plus "Did You Know?" fact sections and "Think About It!" prompts that get kids and parents talking.

The series spans 10 volumes and 199 unique figures, covering STEM pioneers, sports legends, civil rights champions, Black women heroes, and more. Published by Spence Consultants, LLC in Mount Vernon, NY — co-created with an NYC Department of Education educator.

Volumes 1 and 5 are available now on Amazon. Volume 2: STEM Edition releases April 2026. The full 10-volume roster is locked and in production.

What's Inside Every Volume

More Than Just Coloring

Every page in every volume is designed to do more than fill time — it's designed to start a conversation.

💡 Did You Know?

Every hero page includes a "Did You Know?" fact section — a short, age-appropriate piece of information that gives context to the hero's life and legacy.

"Did you know that Katherine Johnson calculated the trajectory for the first American in space — by hand?"

🌱 Think About It!

A simple prompt on every page that invites children to connect the hero's story to their own life — building empathy, critical thinking, and pride.

"Think About It: What is something you love to do that you could get really, really good at?"
